Description
  • Ex-chairman of the Mayor of Bath's Honorary Guides. Beginning before 1934, guided walks of Bath evolved into the Mayor's Honoray Guides in 1951 with the introduction of a training course for the voluntary guides. This was intended to cope with the increasing volume of visitors especially during the then Bath Festival [now Bath International Music Festival]. The guides consist of a mixed group of paid and voluntary staff, conducting regular tours of the City. See their own publication 'Guidelines' [pp 195] for more information.
