Description
This collection chiefly comprises the papers of Alan Cecil Tarbat (1905-1978), of Wells. He worked as a schoolmaster at Wells Cathedral School for 42 years from the late 1930s until his retirement in c 1970. During this time he produced a quantity of poems, plays, short stories and articles, many of which were published. The collection includes these works, together with documents relating to his early life in Fareham, Hampshire, and family visits to Devon. The collection also contains extensive earlier papers concerning the Tarbat and related families, including the Lond Devon and Durnford families.
