A small collection of material relating to Manor Farm, Closworth, near Yeovil. This was occupied by John Dampney from at least 1881 until his death in 1891. He was born in Winterhays, Dorset, c 1818, but by 1850 had moved to Ilminster when his son John was born. He had seven other children born there and his youngest child, Henry, born 1864, succeeded him in the tenancy of the farm where he remained until his death in 1950 aged 86 years.
