Description
  • Mostly relating to the marriage and subsequent settlement of Willoughby Bean (1772-1862) and Elizabeth Huffey. The papers also mention their eight children; the Reverend Alexander Louis Wellington; Elizabeth (1802-?); Charlotte (1807-?); Henrietta Sophia (1812-?); Ann Emily; John Henry; Henry Haffey; the Reverend Willoughby the Younger. Willoughby the elder was a Major in the Coldstream Guards, and by 1830 a Justice of the Peace in Sydney, Australia. They returned to No. 2 Queens Parade, Bath by 1841and finally No. 8 Sydney Place, Bath by 1846. The house in Sydney place stayed in the family until at least 1881 where Elizabeth the younger, Charlotte and Henrietta lived, as spinsters, until their deaths. John Henry became a Major in the Madras Native Infantry, India before returning to No. 8 Sydney place by 1862, and staying until at least 1881.
